First off - I have discovered today that lemon juice, crushed red pepper, dill weed, & a bit of Parmesan cheese make a REALLY GOOD marinade for chicken.
Okay. This morning was my weigh/measure day...
I lost 1.8 lbs this week. Not fabulous... but also not too shabby, considering I ate really poorly the first part of the week & my monthly visitor arrived.
So, I've discovered a not-so-happy-making thing about losing weight... Apparently, losing 30 pounds can cause your body to "rediscover" PMS! Joy. Monday & Tuesday were NOT pleasant days. For me, or for anyone around me!
Down 1.8, which gives a total lost so far of 31.2 lbs since I started tracking. (It is distinctly possible that I hit that dreaded, verboten 300 lb mark at one point before I started tracking. I'm fairly certain I'd lost a little bit when I made the decision to get my ass in gear and track what I was doing.)
I measure my neck, bust, chest (bra-strap), R upper arm, R lower arm, above the waist (bulge there), waist, hips, R upper thigh, & R calf. Each week I'll post the changes from the previous week & the total lost in parentheses.
| Neck | 0 | (1.00) |
| Bust | 0 | (3.00) |
| Chest | 0 | (4.00) |
| R upper arm | 0 | (1.00) |
| R lower arm | 0 | (0.75) |
| Above the waist | 0.25 | (5.25) |
| Waist | 0.25 | (5.75) |
| Hips | 0.25 | (5.50) |
| R upper thigh | 0 | (2.50) |
| R calf | 0 | (1.00) |
I have gotten to the point in my weight loss that people at work are noticing... I keep getting asked "what" am I doing. They always seem disappointed when I say that I'm tracking my food & exercising! Yeah. Sorry people... no magic pills that melt away the fat. I've been working at losing.
One of my nurses witnessed one of said interactions today... and after the other person walked away, she shook her head and looked at me and said "What? Would they like to hear you have cancer??" LOL
Yep, everyone wants a magic pill, and no work. Sadly, the only thing that comes close is surgery, and it's not for everyone, and certainly a life changing thing...
ReplyDeleteI've never even contemplated surgery. I've seen way too many folks who had it and managed to gain almost all the weight back, I've seen folks who had it and then had continual medical problems. I've only seen a couple of people who it really 'worked' for. But to me, the possible downs don't come even close to tempting me in that direction.
ReplyDeleteWhile I started out with over 100 lbs to lose, I'll do it the 'old fashioned' way.
I've been clean eating now for 6 weeks. I started it during a monthly visit and I've had another one since then. The good news (for me) is that on the second one my PMSing was down quite a bit. Usually I'm having to argue myself out of actually harming people..and this last time I never once contemplated pushing someone in front of a train.
ReplyDeleteAlso, overall, I feel like I have more energy and I'm finding it easier to wake up in the morning. I'm interested to hear what you have to say next month.
I contemplated surgery. It has the lure that most people who've had it drop an amazing amount of weight in a very short amount of time.. but after really thinking about it I decided against. Surgery fixes the symptoms, not the problem. It physically forces you to eat the right foods in the right portion sizes.. which when I'm honest with myself is what -I- should be doing without having to maim my body. So, no surgery for me.
